Default Injector harness replacement

Do I have to pull the motor to replace the injector harness in my 86.5?

I put an injector harness in a 1986 in a parking lot,
the whole job took about 5 hours.
No engine pulling required
it helps to remove the parcel tray over the CE panel

This is a great relief. Right now we are in the throws of trying to figure out why this car doesn't run
We are getting spark, fuel pump only runs if bypassed. The injector connections and the fuel pump are
are not shaking hands with each other.
The PO is convinced that it needs a new harness.
I have sent the LH and the MAF to Rich at Electroniks to test them to see if they may be the culprits.
Also the PO bought a replacement harness from Mark Anderson which came with the car. It appears to be Ok

Now this is interesting. The injectors get their power through the fuel pump relay, too, so jumping the relay would energize them.

Seems odd that all would fail, though, to prevent a start. Is the W block in the CEB firmly seated?

Have you thought about pulling out the CEB to do a refresh? Wondering if this could be a leaking fan box corroding enough connectors to hamper the flow to the injectors.

jumping the fuel pump only proved that the fuel pump works
The ignition works as you can pull a spark plug and jump it as well. But the injectors are not getting any current to fire. Somewhere along the line the injectors and the fuel pump are not talking to each other

What is a CEB?

What is a CEB?
It's the fuse panel (Central Electric Board). The wiring that provides power to the injectors and transfers signals to and from the LH is in the W connector, in the far lower right corner.

Have you replaced the Crank Position Sensor?

I had thought about doing this once, asked about it here, and never really got a response positive or negative, so, be careful. But, if you wanted to do a rudimentary static test of your harness, you could:
  • Unplug the injectors
  • Remove the fuel pump fuse
  • Jumper the fuel pump relay
  • Jumper pins 13 and 25 on the LH plug

Then you could go with a meter or a noid light to each injector plug and see if you've got 12V. If you do, the wiring isn't severed and it's probably the LH keeping the injectors from firing. If you don't, I'd highly suspect the wiring coming to-and-from the fuse panel.

Rich Andrade checked the LH and it's GOOD!
The crank position sensor has been replaced
The MAF still needs to be looked at
I have a the complete set of manuals in the factory binders
Noid light does not light up

I am now thinking it's a short in the harness. But the fuel pump is still not shaking hands the power going to the harness.

A used one, or is someone selling pre-built new harnesses?
