"Mushy" driver's side door handle - clicks open, barely

I've hit a wall on this. I can't get the security plat to drop forward and out of the way. I've seen other write ups that say to remove the two hex bolts and drop the motor (slides out....not in my case), then move the plates out of the way?
Anybody done this on an 88 MY?
I've got the Morehouse CD's. Are they in there?

Success!
Rolling the window down did the trick! Duh! The plate moved out of the way. Hold the plate out of the way and roll the window back up and it comes out easily!
FYI, having the 4 or 6 inch allen wrenches with the rounded tip on one side allows better access to the heads and easier turning. Add a magnet around the shaft, and you don't lose the washers and bolts!. MrMerlins suggestion to use a little adhesive to hold it all together while starting the bolts is terrific!
Four hours over 2 days... 1 hour could have been solved by rollin the window down. I'm such a noob at these cars!
