Default Will 18" wheels fit on a 91?

Wheels are:

Fronts 18"x8", 57 offset

Rears 18"x11", 51 offset

Will these work?

The rears might rub depending on the tire you use. Most run a 295/35 or 295/30 tire and it seems to fit on most cars, but there are some slight differences from car to car and between tire manufacturers. I had to roll my rear fenders to accommodate them.

Dave's comment is directed at the set of Carrera IIIs for sale on the 'member for sale' list.

Thanks AO. Do you have a link? Or Dave, do you have a link? I think we are talking about different sets of wheels.

Different wheels then Dave. The ones I want are in TX. Just don't want to spend the money if offsets are wrong or rears are just too big. I've been a 911 guy for 25 years but found a 91 928 that's been sitting since 2008 and can't resist it.

Cool, you will be happy w/ a 91 S4, just refresh the rubber bits (fuel lines, etc) and bring it up to spec, they really run great. Find someone w/ a SharkTuner to check all the sensors are working and that will / should save you some headaches

Post some pic's, start a new thread, welcome !

The rears will be tight on a '91. I also have a 91 - that's how I know. In '91 Porsche started putting full rear wheel liners in to reduce sound. Because of this, there is less room inboard for the wheel to sit. I found the 11" wheel with the 51ET would rub on the wheel liner. I ended up getting a set of 3mm wheel spacers to shim them out slightly. But then they rubbed on the outside. So I rolled the fender slightly.

However, I noticed a huge difference in overall tire width when I went to other tide manufacturers. My current go-to tire is the Continental Extreme Contact DW. I run a 295/35 in the rear, and I swear it would fit without rolling the fender. So I think you'll be fine.

You will need the shims however. I think I got mine from Wheel Enhancements for less than $50, but that was years ago. Can probably get them off eBay too, I would guess.

Good luck.

Thanks AO, great information. I've also found tire manufacturers have very different widths for the same stated cross section.

This may all be for naught. The wheels are Carrera Classics, which after some research, were only made in 19". But the ad title and text says 18". I'm getting clarification. The worst case scenario is I stay with the forged Club Sport wheels and get some 245/225 16 RE11s.

I think the Carrera Classic in 18 will look good on the car. But the ad must be a mistake.

Thanks for your help!

I'm looking forward to it, counting the minutes. Will post when I get it. I imagine I'll have to soak the injectors in Seafoam, drain the tank, new fuel pump, brakes complete overhaul. Fuel lines too.

Since it sounds like you are trying to decide, you might want to have a look at this thread.

I like the Panamera 18's.
