Looking for a 928
Greetings,
My colleague is VERY interested in purchasing a 928 ( perhaps an S4, who knows...) and was hoping to obtain some link information so we can do as much homework as possible prior to sealing a possible deal.
Any helpful weblinks?
Thanks,

Porsche official site - look for 928 under Classic Models
Porsche Club of America link to 928 info
Buyer's guide and a link to other links

To buy? go to cars.com; autotrader.com; roadfly.com; 928 Specialists lists cars (928gt.com), and I think Devek and 928intl.com also list. I wouldn't go to Brian Buxton, Bridgeville, PA, or the dealer in St. Louis who uses varioius names. Most dealers have to work on some mark up, don't know or won't give you a history which is mandatory unless you get a PPI and/or are a wrench, and some don't know a GT from S4.

For a mechanics list (PPI) and extensive links: http://www.eatel.net/~dslabat/mech.htm

E-BAY!!! My BEST adive for you is to stay as far away from purchasing any Porsche on E-Bay as much as humanly possible. There are cars that can be found here on the Rennist by
<clicking here>.
Also try to work with the list sponsors if possible. I think Buxton MotorSports is a list sponsor .
Best of luck on your 928 Purchase.

Ebay
Ebay isn't inherently good or bad: garbage in garbage out. They are unlikely to support a buyer over a seller if a dispute arises, so buyer beware. With a product like the 928, the risk is obvious. I've heard of people buying on Ebay sight unseen; hiring a shipper and being happy with their purchase. YMMV. I've only exchanged emails with Mr. Buxton about a couple of 928s, I would not pursue the venture with him any further. YMMV.

However, personal ethics prevent me from discounting the fact that Mr. Buxton is a Rennlist Sponsor and I prefer to recognize that first above my unfortunate interaction with him early last year. I have freinds that have done great business with Mr. Buxton and I have "friends" that simultaneously think I can be an azzhole at times. I am cetain the visa-versa also applies here, so that pretty much evens things for me with him in my book.
In a statement for his favor- I think he went into the transaction with good intentions on my 2002 996 but really got thinks mucked up during the process.
