I would just use a naca duct in the same place as the 968 turbo. I would of course use twin ducts. I figured this looks pretty good because the 968 has a sort of similar front end as the 928. I have a photo if you can't find one.

The air intakes originate in a high pressure area in the very front of the car, above the radiator. As long as the car is moving, I think it's already getting the coolest air available. I've seen this come up before and I don't get it. Somebody correct me if I'm missing something here.

I suppose what you might be missing out on is a ramming effect at high speed.

The spot in front of the radiator is the highest pressure area on the car.

I understand where your coming from but i removed the fan shroud where the air intake tubes originally went

Put it back, Lou.

You are reducing the pressure on the intake tubes and radiator when moving, and allowing hot air to recirculate back into the intake tubes when you are not moving. Bad idea.

I see now what I was missing. To quote Paul Harvey-"And now you know...the REST of the story"

... and allowing some air to go over the top of the radiator, rather than through it.

Gosh, Lou, did you do a search on this? There was an exhaustive thread on this topic a couple months ago - the one where the guy had removed his air box cover in search of power gains.

old & new,
i did read that and it seems he was sucking hot air from around the motor just like the old hot rods.Im trying to design or see what other people have done to get in front of the radiator.Like all those guys who supercharged there 928s.They had to take the ait tubes off also but how were they avoiding the hot air from behind the radiator

Cut holes in your hood...
Fresh air straight into the intake tubes...

The old Strosek cars did it...

http://www.thedeathknight.com/928/928RedStrosek.html

If you search that older thread more thoroughly, you will see that there was a pretty cool idea, to have the hood "sandwiched" so it had a 1" gap for the air to pass from over the radiator, over the whole engine through the hood passage, then down into the air cleaner, thus eliminating the air tubes...

We who have the Tim Murphy supercharger setups take the air through a K&N filter which is located inside the fender, below the driver's side headlight.
