Default what does this button do?

I dont know why these cars are so damn difficult. Wow i never spent so much time and effort on trying to find out what this buttons function is? Can someone please explain. Thanks

Trip odometer reset button. Don't press it while your moving.

Pushing it activates a little motor (actuator) which resets the gears to 'zero'. Doing it while in motion can 'grind' the plastic odometer gears.

it can even break the old gears while not moving.... its one hell of a magnetic actuator.

If you own a 1989 or newer model, the ODO is digital; no gears that can be destroyed.

I'm guessing you don't have the original Owner's Manual for your car?

If not, there is a link in the FAQ thread that gets you a digital version for most model years.

Give it a read.
