I've not written in some time because the car has been in diagnostics for a long time with no positive results.
Car does not start.
Electronics have bee gone over and appear to be OK.
Car is getting fuel (pump provides fuel).
Question:
How far out of time must the timing belt be to prevent starting?
Thanks.

if your timing belt is out of time, then you have bent valves, and the car will not start in that condition. This is an interference engine. Please describe the sound it makes when you try to turn it over. Also, what is the last thing you did to it before the problem began. How did it start to fade on you? Was it suddenly a no start, or were there signs of something (performance) degrading? It could be anything, and we need more info to help.
Important - Do not try to start until you test to se if the engine turns by hand. You do not want to further damage the internals if it is valves hitting pistons.

Is there spark? You have basic ignition function at the EZK brain or there would be no fuel pump run signal. That box also gives you tach pulses, so look for telltale needle movement while cranking.
As far as the belt timing affecting starting, a few teeth off would be OK, we've seen that before. It's easy enough to check the belt timing by hand (

In my opinion, you should decide how far you are willing to transport your car and then locate a a recommended 928 worthy mechanic or fellow 928 owner in that circle and ship it to them.
I have a history buying non-running cars and then get them running - I am not a rocket scientist - but I get them going with help from folks on this forum.
