Default 928 Bumblebee for Sale

Well, it's been 9 months since the unfortunate accident and I haven't made much progress. (see previous posts) Too much to do and too little time with new job. So enough of the pity party, I'm posting where the the car is today. To me this car has three options, somebody takes the time to rebuild and they have a fast as hell track car, part it out or take the goodies and put into another body. Anyone that knows this car can testify to the sound, power and speed of the ride. It was a blast to drive. That being said, I'd rather sell whole car to the next party and let them figure out how they would proceed.

Here's all the goodies on the car:

Engine
5.0L Euro Hybrid Engine CIS ($5000)
Lifted Cams
GT Oil Pickup
Completely resealed engine - no leaks
Completely Tuned
New WUR
Innovative A/F Gauges ($200)

Clutch
10,000 miles on clutch pack
Brand new pilot bearing this year
Re-adjusted complete clutch pack

Transmission
90% rebuilt ($4500 and 12 month project - didn't replace 4/5 gear synchros - not needed)
Replaced all dog teeth, synchros, anchor bands, drive shaft
2.54 gear ratio (makes for great acceleration with 5 speed and 5.0L)

Suspension
S4 suspension front and rear
cross drilled rotors
1 year old brand new steering rack ($500)
Plenty of pad lefts all the way around
stainless steel brake lines

Exhaust
1 year old new MSDS headers ($1000)
Custom 3" exhaust with hi-flo cats and resonator ($1800)

Torque Tube
Rebuilt TT with Constantine Super Bearings ($1000)
Completely rebuilt the entire shift linkage (ball cup, coupler, etc)

Battery
6 month old battery (200)

Lights
H4 Headlamps

Wheels
Porsche Cup1 Wheels - Completely Refinished in 2014 ($700)
9 Month old Hankook Tires <500 miles ($700)

Interior
Momo Shifter
Momo Steering Wheel
Momo Horn Button with Porsche Crest
928specialist short shifter
  • Speedhut illuminated gauges
  • LED POD lights
  • 928 S4 seats - 8 way (ALL OF THEM WORK)
  • Custom Stereo ($3000) - Will negotiate this separately or this goes with me.
  • Custom alarm which allows for opening and locking the vacuum based doors with remote. ($200)
  • Custom Chrome Hood Shocks from Red Line Tuning ($120)
  • Custom 928 Decal and New Hood Liner
I have a folder 3" thick of receipts to back this all up for the interested buyer. I have boxes of spare parts and odds and ends. $6500 or best offer. Thanks for looking!

Damn this is such a sad situation. That is a sweet car. Good luck with the sale, that seems like a great price for all the things included.

Thanks for all the sympathetic comments; much appreciated. After 13 years of ownership and truly a lot of blood, sweat and tears it was very hard to write this fore sale post. Anyway, as a side, I recently reinstalled the radiator and started the engine. Sounds as good as ever.

Would you summarize what still needs to be done?

I'm always interested in unique cars, but need a bit more info on where you're at right now.

I've seen this car in Hell and it runs great!
Great price for all that's listed.

I recently purchased another (an 88 manual) so I'm out on this one

Good luck w/ your sale Brad

Sounds like you are so close after coming so far, but I completely understand the battle to be able to set aside time for it. Shame you couldn't send it up to the shop Andrew used for his Coke racer & let them finish it up for you.
GLWS Brad.

Bumblebee has been sold. It went to a good home in our local car club group; hopefully to be reborn as a very fast track car. Thank you all for your support and interest. The 928 forum is the best!

I'm still around!
That motor has a cross-drilled crank in it. Can"t wait to see it rolling again.

Well, I got the wheels back on and fired her right up after nine months. (I put a bottle of stabil and techron in the tank and kept her on a battery tender). I drove her off to her new home ...fortunately only a mile or so away. I got a lot of strange looks from the neighbors!!!

To help with the pain of losing her, I went out and bought a new 2015 cayman s!
