Hilton, how do you figure? Here is a picture of a stock cat in my garage that was pulled off of a 1988 S4. Sure looks like air injection pipes are near the back of the cat. The aftermarket Magnaflow also has an air inlet in the side of the cat, not the front. Is it different for other years?

Apologies - I was wrong on the piping, faulty memory let me down from when I last had them on the car.

Do all US-delivered cats look like that?

The only cats I've owned have had a 1'x2' stainless stamped undertray mounted longitundally on the cats which masks the air injection tubes (I don't mean the rear aluminmium belly pan that runs laterally between the outer rails).

I think my '87 has that tray. I'll take a look next time I am at my warehouse. Not sure why this one does not have it. I got this one from a buddy of mine.
