I especially like the line.....

"So if it’s so nice why am I selling? Only because I have 4 other project Porsches not to mention a $9,000 pending invoice from Twin Disc for rebuilding the transmissions on my yacht which unexpectedly failed this summer."

Hahahahaha, man that's a good one!

The car has a salvage title and but wasn't in an accident? But he had the front bumper repainted to get rid of road rash. Ya right.

The insurance company didn't total out the car over road rash on a bumper this car was hit somewhere and repaired.

It may have been a theft recovery. That will often result in a salvage title after the insurance pays the owner. Then the car goes to auction.

It must have a very special engine. He says it has "timing belts"... What a maroon!

It just doesn't look that very well maintained, either. No cap on the air pump filter or battery terminal. Cover missing from blower motor compartment. Key on, clock not on.

What a jackass... and who would pay that much for a salvage car?

Are those controls by the clock for the rear AC?

Jfrahm: Yes, those are rear a/c controls, next to the clock. Considering the hype in the ad, if he really needs the $$, you might get it cheap, cause we know and he knows it isn't that great. OTH, some poor unsuspecting joe may pay too much. Then he'll end up here asking for advice.

Personally I think $9k is already too much for a salvage.

Ok, he explained the underhood light show but what's with the eerie purple glow coming from the hatch? Perhaps this car has a salvage title from some strange nuclear accident?

I think the window are tinted with cheap tint, that has a purple hue, instead of a grey or bronze hue...

And I like this disclaimer:

Good news for bidders but bad news for me. My mechanic has found that one of the reasons that the fuel and temp gauges are acting funny is because the spark plug wires are shot. With all of this current jumping around my mechanic says that this will affect all electronic components in the car. The old shorting plug wires will yield the condition most idiotic 928 owners refer to as “a beautiful light show under the hood at night” (seriously I have heard and seen this described both in person and online before). This is what leads to most of the under hood engine fires on these cars. So here it goes:

The original parts sticker is still on the driver side fender, but there's none on the passenger side fender. That would lead me to suspect that the passenger fender's been replaced. If it was just a typical respray of the original fender, that sticker would more than likely still be there. Is it just me, or does that engine cross brace look pretty bent? A good whack on the passenger side at one time?

Default Wires?

Ooops I forgot to put this in my first post. He paid what was it for new wires -- $635? You don't need a gun to hold this guy up. But then he says he has other project cars -- and he pays someone to do wires for him??! No pity. I bet he's putting a screen door in the bottom of that boat.

I bought my 928 off e-bay, rebuilt title. Car was titled in 86' in NY also and had a rebuilt title 6 months later in florida, sounds familiar....Probably theft recovery? No signs of frame damage but it was repainted once in 16 years, not unusual. My car has been great to drive and no problems beside the usual 928 gremlins.
