Default Frequently missing part!

The seals terminating at the front of the bonnet (hood!) and rear of the hatch are hollow, and should have little rubber plugs inside the ends.

Another 928 owner pointed out mine were missing, and that if you look at other 928s they are often missing, except where a bad paint job has stuck them in! They are not a tight fit, so often unwittingly knocked out when washing the car.

So as a 928 completist I ordered a set and lots of spares. They are 928.505.191.00 and cost €0.30 each! Listed on illustration 802-00 and 802-05 but not numbered or shown on diagram, which may be another reason they are not replaced after paint etc. And the bonus is when you install them you at last discover a 928 job that takes seconds and cannot possibly screw up!

Photos show before and after at the front seal, the 1cm long cap, and one of the hatch seal ends. The white marks are residue of recent waxing.

Now I bet you can't wait to check whether your's are present. Post the result here - will be interesting to see what proportion are there!

wow - thanks for this little detail. Roger - do you carry these in the States? I have no idea if I am missing mine, but just in case, I'd like a little handful to have.

Fairly common part and I have 20 in stock.
Over 3000 sitting in Germany.

For the rear the special ends for the GTS look even better.
928 505 141 01C left & 928 505 142 01C right. These fit where the bead terminates at the hatch.

Are these present in all MYs or only 87+. I'm not picturing, where this would be needed on my 85.
