I just got the cap in, and I cant get it on. There doesnt seem to be any way to get it on over the pod with cracking it.

I contact the seller, but I doubt he will get back to me. Looks like its going to be a paypal dispute.

Pull the pod or at least loosen it and lean it rearward.
It's not so bad, and I can't imagine it would go on well any other way, unless it's really flexible or something.
Good luck,
Dave

I started reading about the process of removing the pod. By loosening it, would I still need to pull the steering wheel, and go through that whole process?

yes; but it is not a hard job. Just tricky the first time you do it. Anyway, that's how these cars are - they fight you every step of the way, every time, on little stuff and on big stuff. (FWIW, so does my jeep)

Oh.... oops. Just received a new instrument cluster printed film about a week ago so I am still putting my car back together. (It's been apart for at least two months... LED interior lighting turned into HVAC diaphragm, new speakers and WIAIT kine stuff...)

I am currently filling the cracks on my pod, but here is what the Jager Eng/Garage 9 leather pod blanket looks like. I'll post a picture of the dash blanket installed later today...

I had the same problem when I initially tried to install my dash cap. I then followed Dan the Pod Guy's instructions and can now remove & and re-install my pod in what seems like a trivial amount of time. (Don't quote me but off the top of my head IIRC: disconnect power, steering wheel, screws and bottom cover, screws and top cover, pod switches, pod, connections (dimmer, wiper frequency, washer button, and 3 pod electrical ribbon connections). Ish.

Just getting the pod loose and forward made enough of a difference to make dash cap installation possible.

After all the info in this post, I sent my brand new unopened dash cap back to the vendor for a refund. I will take the dash out and cover it myself. Anyone have instructions for taking out the dash in a 1984 USA?

That is certainly the correct way to restore a dash. The pod needs to come out, the the center console needs to come out. Then there are 4 or 6 bolts holding the actual dash. That puts the dash in your hands and you have to figure out how you are going to restore the padding and install a new cover. You will also have a great opportunity to fix vacuum actuators, etc. WYAIT.
Nothing easy, but that is how it will potentially look the best.
Good luck,
Dave
