Default Warning: Fair Lakes C&C shut down permanently.

The word is out on several forums that anyone who shows up next weekend will be ticketed. Police will be waiting. It's been awhile since I attended, but I know some folks on here attend. Hope this saved someone a ticket. Says they will tow and impound cars. What killed it? Noise, reckless driving, racing.

Now I know why there was a larger than normal turnout in Leesburg today.

These will only survive if people out and shame the rotten apples.

And not worship them for their burnouts and noise on the internets.

Not sure how ticketing, towing and impounding cars that happen to show up somewhere public could possibly stand in court.

Right to peaceably assemble? When did that get thrown out?

It didn't.

But..it was fun to read about this...

It's not loitering, because that is for 'no purpose'.

Many municipalities require permitting to have large assemblies.

Even simply 'associating' as a car group, that has led to complaints and disruptive activity in the past, can be a target because it is civilly disruptive.

The freedom to associate requires a peaceful presence. Past douchebaggery at a C&C event(s) sets the past to argue that is it not peaceful.

This is where I would think, the city is exercising it's right to maintain the peace.

..because it never fixes the problem. More will show up.

What C&C really needs, is corporate sponsorship to assemble at.

In areas where the police force actually is a participant in the community, there are better solutions. The police should have a presence there, both as a participatory presence, as well as a safety and peacekeeping presence. That way the non-idiot participants and the police are there on the same side, and there is a greater level of moron-shaming from peers, as well as a good chance of getting ticketed and/or arrested for bad behavior. It doesn't always have to be us vs. them, with the police on the other side.

About the same time that attacking a police station became "courageous and brave"!

Not all the morons are in the crowd!

There is no "Freedom of Assembly" on someone's private property. Fair Lakes mall, even the parking lot, is not a public park.

If the owner of the private property wants them gone, that's a different thing I guess. I didn't know it was on private property.

Otto and Speedtoys nailed it. Loitering on private property was given as the justification for ticketing. A quote from the shopping mall management company is more than firm:

https://www.facebook.com/KohlsCarsandCoffee

This was the sister C&C to the famous Katie's over in Great Falls. Katie's is run very strictly (a good thing) and have a staff wearing blaze orange road crew vests that ushers everyone out on time. Katie's is the east-coast equivalent of the "original" in Irvine, CA. It was also shut down recently due to complaints of a developer building condos and a hotel nearby and didn't want the noise. We may have to swarm Burning Man...prolly fit right in.

Quick Reply: Warning: Fair Lakes C&C shut down permanently.
