Default 84 928S Negative Battery cable

Well guys, I think I have figured out the culprit of my car when it doesn't want to turn on. I do believe its my negative battery terminal. Every time it doesn't crank, I disconnect the negative and put it back. It allow my v
Car to start right up.

I need to know how to replace it since the cable strands are breaking one by one.

I don't see any diy tutorial for this but any information would help!!!

You can either buy one from the Big 3 sponsors here. They will take good care of you.

You just need to remove one end from the battery and the other end is held on by a single bolt underneath the toolkit cover.

Make sure the connection to the battery is tight. Loose connection can cause problems.

Is that the positive or the negative?

The negative one is typically a flat ground strap rather than a circular wire like you are showing.

That is not a stock cable - it should be flat & braided. For that to fit someone must have butchered the battery box lid... get the proper thing from a 928 vendor...

You need to inspect and either clean or replace all your grounds. There is a diagram showing all the ground points. I did all mine and it made a huge difference. also DeOxit as many electrical connections as you can. The difference will amaze you. Very cheap upgrade.

Yea I was searching it and noticed it was flat so I wasn't sure. But unfortunately I needed it right away and bought a negative cable from O'Reilly for 16 bucks. If it goes bad and have time I will purchase the correct one.

the only time the wrong ground strap will go bad is when your 400 miles from home at night and its pouring rain,
You hit the key and hear .... raindrops keep falling on my head.

Ouch, that must've sucked! My car almost left me back in the box this past Saturday, I guess it was telling me "you need to fix my *** or next time I'm leave you..lol"

Doesn't it depend on year?

Mine was round and I am certain (based on the crimps) it was stock.
