Looking for 17" tire suggestions
Have Sumi's HTR ZIII on the car now on Boxster rims from 2011 but plan to change the rims & tires.
I'm having a set of 993 cup wheels refinished (17 x 9.5 rear and 17 x 8 fronts).
Are there newer tires out there that would be an ideal all around tire for traveling smooth roads (mostly from Fl to SC).
No winter driving.....Rain can be a factor, and when you get caught in a down pour in Southern Fl .... you think you are in U - Boat 928.

I run 17*9.5 60 mm offset at all four corners, 255/40 on the front and 285/40 on the rear. Kumho Escta Spt. Ran 265/40 front and 295/35 rear Kumho XS tires are now but the tires a those sizes are NLA. Running 255/40 or wider takes an extra rack bumper to keep them from rubbing on the inside of the fender well. No issues with the outer edge of the fender, on my car but YCMV.

For summer tires (no snow and no ambient temps below 40 F) I have two favorites. If you want the best tire available regardless of cost buy Michelin Pilot Super Sport. They are incredible handling tires and great in the rain, but expensive. If you're on a bit of a budget the Continental ExtremeContact DW is an excellent tire for a great price. They are not quite as good as the Michelin in the dry, but they are great in the rain.
I have the Conti DW on my Audi in the summer and the Michelin PSS on my 928 GT. In the winter my Audi gets performance winter tires for the snow and the 928 hibernates.
