TV,

Here's the real math in NH for a situation like this:
6 points= $380 year extra in car insurance x 3 years (thats how long it stay on your record)= $1140
12 points in one year and your suspended but since I havent they will probably continue to let me drive, so add 12 points worst case scenario if I go without a judge and the cost is $450 in fines plus $2240 in car insurance premiums. Thats not including that my wife will also have to take off her car from mine and lose the multiple car discount, probably another $350 spent there.
So, grand total now, $450 +$2240 + $350=$3040 worst case scenario without a lawyer. In addition, every time I am pulled over and they see my record they are just going to write me up figuring I cant drive and better to be off the road!

One Rennlister said he paid $65-95 per ticket, but I am still checking into it. I only need representation on two of them, the other three I will gladly speak for myself but just having the lawyer present will be good PR.

Tarek:
I agree with tv. Get a hand held recorder and record the bust by actuating the recorder kept in the door pocket. Maybe you could get him to bust you again and then take in the recording to some enterprising and creative barrister. Then maybe you could restore your car to concours standards.

I have an even more outrageous story than that one. 6 ##$@^$!! weeks in the pokey because I wouldn't let them search my car. They busted me when I refused the search so they could come back while I was jailed and search the car. They did, but found nothing. When I got out, I was threatened by one of them who told me I'd best be on my way. I laughed and asked why he was so afraid of me, and told him I had business in that town and thought I would just stay around awhile. And I proceeded on my way. That's not the whole story, but enough for now. Remember the Constitution. Remember that consent under duress or fear of duress is not consent. Remember to remember details and/or right them down while they are in your mind. And remember to have a VISA card with you to use to bail out. In California, you get TWO telephone calls. Remember 1-800-300-BAIL...etch that number into your mind in case the jail only has a payphone.

Actually this doesnt suprise me at all, an independent research organization compiled some facts about police and founf that 10% of them should be behind bars themselves for the significant crimes they commit on the job. Who knows who many others are violating their ethics and morals by working under politicians who have one goal: lots of ticket revenues. My wife was stopped going through indiana on I-90, the last county on the east side, anyhow turns out to be a huge speedtrap (from others Im told), noone on the road at 5am and she gets a ticket doing 80 in a 65 from VASCAR or should we say VASCUM.

LOL. I know that area, having traveled between Chicago and Cleveland, and Chicago and Knoxville several times. Rule #1 - never speed in IN. They have no mercy.

Default Question

When you receive a ticket, you must sign for acceptance. In doing so, don't you admit fault?. Or is it just acceptance.

I had a cop, who thought he was God, tell me that if I don't sign the ticket, he was going to arrest me and throw me in jail?

I beleive that signing only means that you have received the ticket in question and that you have been advised of your rights. It is not an admission of guilt. If it were, the cops could just collect the fine there and then and skip the whole court thing.

Thanks guys for the legal advice. Tell you the truth, I'm kinda used to the profiling thing. It usually all ends well, but what a PITA they make it until all is cleared out and I'm re-established as a respectable member of society. The times we're in also don't help...but oh well. Good thing I'm the forgiving type and don't hold a grudge.

Warren,

Sorry I can't remember the officer's badge number. Local guy to the area. About 20 min North of Nashua. I usually ran into him anywhere between Nashua and Epsom, if I remember well.

Okay, the latest numbers are $750 for a lwayer so far with the newest guy I am going to interview. he claims he doesnt have a magic wand and that the judges dont buy any stories, only respond to bargaining. I am going to interview 3 lawyers, I beleive some are better than others. Maybe if the cop will agree to a lesser speed with my lawyer I can get the lawyer to make a deal with the judge too. Or is that double dealing..?

Cool strategy

Without crime, and thus convictions, prosecutors would be out of business, would they not? Prosecutors will prosecute anyone for anything to get a coviction and crime statistics. No matter what the circumstances.
It is an adversarial system. So they make deals, and the deals must include something for them: convictions for something. If a nun sneezed in church they would want to prosecute her for disturbing the peace.

Justice?? Sure. Sure. Whatever you say.

Why do you think speed limits are set unreasonably low?

Default Enough already!!!

for Warren:

1) Lose the addresses of Ron_H and tv. They are clearly anarchists and if you are unwilling to bomb the capitol building in Concord you will get low approval rating from them.

2) Pay the fine or pay the lawyer. Do the math yourself. Insurance will cost you if you take all those hits, but what are the chances that you completely avoid the "shotgun" regardless. Know the fine schedule and drive 65 if you're not willing to pay it. Consider it part of the cost of ownership. They don't call it "arrest me" red for nuthin'.

3) Find out if the personalized plate (dumbass) is still available in NH. Why would you drive an uninspected vehicle that fast anyway?!? There's no sales tax and no income tax so how else are they gonna raise revenue.

4) Stay off 93N and 89N. I like to drive really fast on those roads and I don't need you to **** off every trooper out there!

Ted,

C'mon, like you havent dont anything that would make people think you forgot to take your stupid pills?? My Rover was in the shop, had to drive something and didnt know I was going to have a cop with an IQ over 30 pull me over and figure out the sticker was for my other car.
Hey, lifes a bitch, I already figured that out, okay. Thats why I am driving a porsche. (he-he) And please dont tell me where to drive fast, I will be prone to driving faster out of pure spite if someone starts telling me WTF to do.
