Carry on, I cant wait to see your final rendition, though you may not ever have a final rendition as new ideas will surely pop into your head as your modding.

The way the 981 center console floats over the shifter would be a lot easier to integrate into the dash over the large tunnel in the 928. With what I have done so far, integrating the factory 987 rear center console into the front console is going to be hard because the dash is sitting too low in the car...

So as most of you know the 928 doors are massively long. As I started dissecting the first pair of donor Cayman panels that I had purchased, I quickly came to the realization that I'd be needing another pair...
So I bought a second pair and started cutting those apart as well.
Before I started making any cuts into the panel beyond where the factory vinyl and plastic came together I thought long and hard about how I could piece these 2 panels together maintaining as much of the factory look and feel as possible.
I also pulled off a couple of molds of the original shape before I cut anything just in case.
So since I had the inner door liner already modified and properly test fit on the car I know I could use that to help me properly set the new door panel length. So maintaining the entire rear portion of the black panel I made several cuts on the beige panel eventually getting to the point shown below.
The 928 door panel is at least 12 inches longer than the 987 panel (just in case you missed the gaping hole between the front and back halves of the black panel).

I mounted the inner door panel back onto the car and used the factory panel clips to hold the stretched 987 panel onto the door. This is what it looked like after several test fit-ups to clear the door jam.

I decided to start fill in the front lower corner with pink insulation foam and shape it to the contour of the door panel. I am still uncertain how I will proceed from here but I am may end up fiberglassing this foam and recessing component speakers somewhere in that area..

And this is where the story ends- December 27, 2010. Two months later I started a side business selling Porsche parts and a few months after that my first little girl was born. I haven't touched the interior since...

I started this thread with the intention of getting feedback regarding whether or not I should continue down the path of this custom interior or revert it back to stock. One decision would be much easier than the other to see to completion. What do you all think???

personally, i think its been awhile since youve been able to enjoy the car. Whatever gets you back into enjoying the car quickest gets my vote. that being said, youve done some really impressive work. maybe dial back the scope of the project and do one door card at a time etc?

For my own selfish reasons, I want to see the project completed...just to see it! But I agree with the above comment...whatever gets you back into driving the car and enjoying it most quickly is probably the best. That said, if you revert it to stock, is it going to gnaw at you that you didn't finish your project?

I own Cayman S and 928 S. I will be honest, I enjoy 928 more. I feel more comfortable in 928 . When I drive Cayman I get nervous. I was less nervous when I drove 930. It is not relaxing car for me and I do not know why.
