Kinda silly electrical question...
Aloha!
OK... pod, instrument cluster and center console have been removed. Battery has been disconnected before starting my most recent work on my 1984 928S (US) and I am currently waiting on parts... or a bit of a miracle. However, until then, I have these really nice lower window seals from Roger which I would really like to install.
Question:
Is it "safe" to plug the window switches back in & reconnect the battery so I can lower and raise my windows and install these new seals?
Thoughts?
Background:
Any lose electrical wires I have located (from PO?) have been taped off with electrical tape or mated to where they were supposed to go. Pod switches are installed but hanging... center console window switches have been removed but I can plug them back in for this. And if I can turn on power again, I'd also like to take the time to look at my hatch release, sunroof and rear wiper and do some radio work too.
And... yes, I have a charged fire extinguisher mounted in front of passenger seat, but I would really like to avoid having to use it.

As long as no loose wires can contact each other - not a problem... as noted the pod is not required to drive the car - however you may get no alternator function... so you may not be able to go far..
Well - I should point out there are many circuits on a 928 that are not fused at all... if those short out the wiring will just melt (somewhere in the middle of the loom probably).
It makes sense to be cautious - disconnecting the battery is always a smart move...

To All: Mahalo... I mean, thank you.. for the advice and information...
This is good news as (1) I really miss the sound of my 928 and (2) I have a few other things that I would like to work on and test which require juice. (And yes, if needed, I have a charger- 40A at that!- for my Odyssey PC1700.)
I may roll my car forward and backward a bit or operate it within the lot I park in, but I won't be putting her on the road until I can get my instrument cluster's printed circuit film repaired or locate a suitable replacement.
Again, Mahalo from Hawai'i ;-)
