Thank you guys on this! Updating my dash lights right now and a combo of the sandpaper for the hard ones and hot glue/needle nose pliers for the hellish one. The vinyl tube approach didn't work for me, but I may have one that was too large.

 

Mine broke while using tweezers, but I was able to pull them out by the short hairs (wires).
