The rear hatch switch on my 82 has completely seized up and was looking to get a new / used replacement.

I've looked at the PET for the 82 and also searched through various parts sites and can't see anything that references the switch being around on the 82.

Part number 928-613-114-00. PET from an 86 here, part 32 is the one in question

The attached picture, although small, seems to look very similar to what's in the parking brake cavity. Any thoughts as to why it's not in the 82 version?

If it's the switch for the light then it is 928 613 119 00 "door contact switch rear lid" PET 905-15 item 14

Swede - I had seen that part before too, and that's definitely not it.

The odd thing, though - I see that in the PET for the 82, but I don't have one in the hatch area. Can't even see where it's supposed to go.

I'm wondering if the carpet in the hatch was redone at some point and they covered up the hole. Do you happen to have a pic of it installed?

It goes under the rear hatch receiver (item 7 in the picture in post 1) behind the toolkit and the mounting plate. Very hard to see as it is hidden well in there.

I don't have any pictures and I'm in Sweden at the moment, car in Thailand.

I read your post again and is it a hatch release switch you are looking for? In that case your 82 shouldn't have one. Believe it came 84.
