Default Problem with Stop Lamp warning.

Hi,

My car is back from the electrician to solve some electrical gremlins.
He pull the pod apart and replace all the lamps, some were burned, others only old and dark, clean all contacts and also replaced the old dimmer with a new one and also the ignition switch with a new one.
Everything is working ok on the dash, lights, gauges, and also with the CWS, we try removing a tail lamp and it immediately lights up the warnings, and the cancel button on the centre console also works.

Only one small problem: the Stop Lamp that should light with all the others and go out with the first press of the brake pedal does not light at all!

Assuming everything in the pod is ok, contacts are clean and lamps are fine, where do you suggest I look next?
Is there an independent circuit for this lamp that I can check?
Do the brake light switches on the brake master cylinder have some relation with this warning lamp?

Thanks n advance for your help.

Regards

Sounds like he might have bypassed the warning system at the warning control computer. Pull the left foot rest and see if any of the wires have been removed from the black or yellow connector.

Thanks Sean,

Sorry for my ignorance, but there are two different control modules, the bulb control module on the passenger side and the central warning system module under the left foot rest on the drivers side, is this correct?

Let me look at the wiring diagram and get back with you, i may have confused myself after doing this on an '81 the other day.

Ok, the brake warning does go through both the lamp control and the warning computer. Check 'em both.

Thank you very much Sean

The electrician did check the bulb control unit, and clean and re-solder some connections, so I assume that one is working fine!
Hopefully, as you said, it might be a lose or removed wire in the module under the foot rest.

Thanks.

Just an FYI, a lot of the warning system can be bypassed by removing the wires from the control unit, especially helpful when the control unit is starting to malfunction.
