Yes, old thread, I know, but didn't want to start a new one for a simple question.
'82 and '86 PET show 928-505-015-02 impact absorber for front.
'91 PET shows 928-505-015-22 impact absorber.
Which one fits '86.5?
Thanks.

P.S. Front

since the PU cover is the same for the 86 and the 86.5,
this should be the part you need.

928-505-015-02 impact absorber for front
These are one time use.

NOTE you can get a good used shock, from 928INTL
make sure to ask that it measures 70MM extended ,
They are familiar with this..

NOTE best to check both of the ones you have,
if one is shorter than this,
the bumper will sit further back in the PU cover.

Thanks Stan. That fact dawned on me after I posted.
Now trying to decide if it's worth it just to fix the lights.
What else should be done while the cover is off?

Replace the bumper beading, use 1/4 inch staples that are stainless so they dont rust.
Get 2 new HL squirters and the plastic nuts that hold them in.
Make sure your horns work . now is easy to work on them.
Flush out the washer tank and remove the 2 metal collars in the fill tube and the tank inlets,
this removes all the rust in the system,
also run the HL washer pump before you reconnect the hose to the PU cover to flush out the rust in the lines
