Default 928 intake aluminum alloy #?

Does our intake metal..what is its alloy #?

Like, 2014, or 2024?

Has anyone had it tested?

It's a magnesium alloy, don't know the number.

be very careful some alum stripers will attack the magnesium alloy . blast only , then clean the blast material out thoroughly . A couple of engines have been destroyed from leftover blast mat. back to the oven .

Oh ya..ive done this dance before. Just wondered offhand what alloy it was.

From the Mg content, Im guessing in the 2000 range. Those can be up to 3% Mg content.

If it's cast aluminum, it would probably have a 3XX designation, if I recall from my grad student days. The 4-digit alloys are for wrought processing.
