Default How much would a 928 cost in new parts

Today I bought a complete set of frontwheel bearings. The weight of this is approx 600 gram or 1 lb and 6,5 oz (says kitchen scale). It cost me EUR 98 or US$ 87 nowadays. That makes approx EUR 0.16 per gram. The total car weighs in at about 1500 kg so the total car would cost (at this rate of EUR/weight) EUR 245,000 which isn't too bad I guess. But there are certainly parts that are more expensive per unit of weight.

I once bought a piece of bodywork for my 911S, which was less than 100 gram but cost approx EUR 100. So this is EUR 1.00 per gram. The car weighs in at approx 1040 kg so the total car would cost EUR 1,000,000 or a cool MILLION Euro!

Just kidding...

I remember reading an article in a car magazine about car parts, at the time a basket full of gas caps for a Golf was worth more than the Golf.

Henry Ford has been attributed with the I'd give the cars away if I could get them to buy the parts.

I've found the 928 to be a dichotomy, many of the normal wear parts are no more, and sometimes less, than similar parts for Volvos (parts that I am most familiar with), others take your breath away, Gasp.

If you bought 1 of everything on PCNA's parts list with a 928 part # on it, you'd pay $23 million.

Well, $23,464,947.46. But that seemed like too much to type at the time.

What's wrong with the 928 on the Car Chasers FB feed right now?

A while ago one of the Rennlisters (MBMB) commissioned someone to reverse engineer the PET 87-91 pdf into a spreadsheet. There are 8,999 lines in that spreadsheet. Someday when I'm stuck at a 6 hour swim meet I'll collate into what you'd need to build an S4, then crossmatch it with a PCNA price sheet.

What color should it be?

I told my wife this. She is my financial adviser. She immeiately urged me to sell the car bit by bit so I wouldn't have to work anymore. I talked her out of that using a new law that forbids people to dismantle a car at home.

Nothing really just older photo put out by CNBC publicity dept. They control/own that Facebook site....Jeff has always liked 928s had several over the years even after a water pump seized on the freeway in a 1983 no big deal.
He spent a lot of hours on the track in the old very brown 1980 before they moved back to Texas....

23 million is way disingenuous, of course, there are a lot of repeats. Here's the top 10 parts by cost:

Code:
92810094042	REPLACEMENT ENGINE	43985.29
92810094041	REPLACEMENT ENGINE	40628.12
92810094043	SS 92810091108	39249.73
92750090704	BODY IN WHITE	54509.31
92750090705	BODY IN WHITE	54509.31
92850090760	BODY IN WHITE	54509.31
92850090761	BODY IN WHITE	54509.31
92810094021	SS 92810091107	35954.02

This, obviously, proves that my 928 is exactly 17.6 times better than a Bugatti Veyron, based on the now-proven fact that my parts are 17.6 times more costly than an entire Veyron!
