Window opener issue,1987
Troubleshooting why right window won't open. Changed switch and relay without effect. Troubling aspect is I plugged left window switch into right window switch socket and it still opens left window. Only connection between left and right socket is a common ground and common input power lead. I can't figure out any possible way that power to right window socket should open left window but I am assuming it may explain why right window won't open. Any ideas ? Only other anomaly is sunroof will only open now but won't close but I don't think the problems are associated. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you opened up the passenger door to inspect and test the window motor? I'd suspect some pretty bizarre wire re-routing if the right window switch opens the left window!

Before the right window stopped working, it operated on the right switch and the left worked fine. No rewiring was done so wiring is not the issue. I haven't checked the motor yet because I'm trying to figure out how current is getting through the right connector to the left window motor.

OK sorry, it was not clear that the window had ever worked since you've owned it. Just FYI, my right side window gave up last spring and it was the motor. But as usual with Porsche stuff it had been sort of intermittent and I believed it was the switch. Replaced switch and it worked for about one day, then the motor definitely died. Replaced motor and all is well.
But still that switch business is intriguing.
