They can be a pain in the neck to replace Andre (recently changed mine) but they're cheaper than a flash fire.

Pls don't work on mileage when it comes to rubber stuff. Rubber stuff works on time and heat. You'll probably find that u-piece is virtually solid now, and waiting for any excuse to crack.

HTH.

So, after several decades of not having to winter-store a car, we are back in there's-winter territory. I mothballed the car with several plastic bags at strategic locations around the intake and airbox, plus in the nose in front of the radiator and at the potential entry points at the rear corners of the belly pans. Put out mousetraps (harvested a few) and turned the flock of kitties loose in garage every once in a while. Taped up the exhaust with red stucco tape. So no car damage. But... We had some really nice weather for a few days in January (sixties, warm enough to play a few rounds...). I accidentally/unknowingly spilled a mothball out of one of the bags while extracting it before driving. It was under the intake right next to the water bridge connection, evidenced by the melted shiny coating on the metal. The garage stank of the melted mothball. It took a bit of effort to get it all cleaned out and make the garage safe for human occupation again.

So, mothball the heck out of everthing, but be darn sure you get them all out before running the engine. Or... drop one under the intake in the fall, run the engine a bit, park it in the garage. Secure in the knowledge that the stink will be enough to keep the critters from nesting in there. Phewww!

I'll use better ziploks next time, and put red remove-before-flight tails on every bag.
