So the shaft clamp is slid into the TT and the arm is off of the ball - but the entire clutch is just hanging there because the shaft is too long and there is not enough room to free it.
When I did an early clutch (78) I just took the bell housing bolts nearly all the way out, slid the bell housing back, and the clutch pack then had room to drop out. You will want to bolt the clutch pack back up with a couple of bolts before you try this if that's the way you decide to go.
It looks like you are trying to just take out the pressure plate and one clutch disk.
You have to take it all out as an assembly - the first clutch disk, the intermediate plate, the second clutch disk and the pressure plate with the clutch arm guide tube and shaft all with it.

Yup, the whole shebang must come out together.
If this is your first clutch job in a 928, it's customary to drop the entire assembly on your head......kidding aside, read Wally's post below
I realize that Hacker is making a joke, but a novice needs to really, really understand that the clutch pack is heavy, with lots and lots of sharp edges. Dropping it on your head will almost always cause serious injury, with possible loss of an eye or even death. It is very easy to lose control of it when it decides to fall out...

Thankfully my first time the car wasn't that high off the ground which greatly lessened the impact with my forehead.
Thanks guys...what am I doing wrong....the 6 bolts are out but the shaft is hanging up everything even though the coupler is all the way back into the tt.....
It sucks..its like the shaft is too long. When the spline is out of the flywheel the other end of the shaft wont clear the bellhousing and it gets all crooked.....easier to work on a 911 with the engine out
If I remember correctly, there's a similar clamp at the rear of the T Tube that you might loosen to push the shaft rearward a bit. If this is a no-no, forget I said anything!
.....and yeah, that pack is heavy! I think the first time I put a floor jack and wood block under it to help.
