Default If I'd have only known...

What a pain in the *** this was going to be...this 928 of mine.

Life use too be so simple, make coffee in the morning, enjoy a few cups and leave for work.

Now...

Each day begins with...checking every available news channel for their weather predictions (educated guess...in layman's terms), check a few online weather sourses, walk outside and stare into the morning sky looking for even the smallest cloud that could hold a raindrop, pulling the car cover off, opening the garage door...and hoping like heck all of homework pays off.

Oh how l yearn for the simple life...well, that is...until my right foot feels the engine come to life. Then we do it all over again tomorrow.

Give yourself permission to get your car dirty, and to let it sit around dirty between weekly baths. You've earned this privilege by keeping it safe all winter.

I too live on a gravel road. Gravel is only an issue when you drive behind someone too closely. All my stonechips have occurred on the highway and I suspect SUVs and their chunky tyres are mostly the cause.
Never fear rain. Fear salt; luckily I don't have to.

Why would you need a car cover in a garage?

If the garage door happens to get left open...this crew's paws will do more damage than gravel.

Huh? Mine is ALWAYS covered in the garage. Dust is one thing, but sunlight is the paint and interior killer.

Rain is only a 'problem' because the car then needs to be cleaned before the cover can go back on. Rain also encourages dirt pickup, particularly the red cinders used for winter traction here. That tends to blast the wheelwell plastic and fasteners. Thank goodness there's no salt used.

On Saturday, on the way to a street show twenty minutes north of us in Redmond, I dashed into a store for some stuff, and found sleet/tiny hail/snow when I came out. Temps had dropped from mid-fifties to mid-thirties in fifteen minutes. I guess I need to watch the weather forecasts even more closely.

Car cover on each night and off each morning? Yikes. That's a bit too much for me.

It's a car. Porsche didn't design it to only be driven under perfect conditions.

This is my problem. Our road is gravel and the road commission put down some gravel that has a lime mix added in...and when the road is wet...it sticks to the bottom on a vehicle like cement. It is very, very corrosive. My new Chevy Silverado looked ten years old underneath in a couple years...after I steam cleaned the crud off.

So, to those that say..."just drive it"...I believe you would be more understanding, tolerant and compassionate to my troubles...if you had too endure such misery. Believe me, I am not a weirdo...you can call home and ask my wife...wait...maybe I should have you call my mom...wait...eeerrr...oh never mind...lol

Meh....ignore'em. I'm told all the time it's just a car and I should drive it year round on salt covered roads.

Nope....not gonna do it.
