Default lhd/rhd mirror question

i have an 81 ob german imported left hand drive car that didnt come with a passenger side door mirror from new.
i bought a used right hand drive door mirror which i have fitted to the right door of the car by drilling the holes required (the original door has all the fittings needed inside).what i have noticed now is the mirror is at max adjustment to be just about able to use it from the drivers seat.
is there two types of mirrors depending on whether the car is lhd or rhd ?do i need to get a passenger side mirror from a left hand drive car.

mark

Both mirror base and door are different between LHD and RHD. Not sure what combination works best in your case since you have LHD in RHD country. Best bet is probably using LHD part.

thanks for the reply.

could anyone get me the part number from there lhd cars passenger door so i know the correct mirror to get.
ive had this mirror painted to match so im going to see if i can make it work but it would be nice to pick up the right one for it.
havent driven the car since fitting the mirror but will have the car out in the next few days to try it out see if its workable.
who at porsche thought it was a good idea to NOT fit a passenger mirror to some of there cars at the time!!
can only imagine it wasnt required by law at the time in some markets and someone thought it looked better without mirrors, cant have been a money issue.
