Back when I was 15, I remember seeing a 928 for the first time. And damn. I was hooked.
And I never thought 25 years ago (or even 5 years ago) that I'd have one of my own parked in my driveway.
Well, the stars aligned, and I now have officially joined the ranks of an owner.
I was fortunate enough to pick up the Shark formerly owned by Robot808, and I'm like a kid on Christmas. And Easter. And my birthday. And Halloween. And any other holiday you want to throw in there.
Holy ****!
Robot808 did a lot (most) of the heavy lifting on the mechanical side, and even helped me when there was a slight issue at arrival, so I feel like I've got a great machine.
I'm overwhelmed by how much great knowledge there is here on RL, and I'm looking forward to learning from, and hopefully one day contributing to, the community.
Looking ahead to my projects ahead:
Clean the ground points
Tighten up the interior parts (a few loose and missing screws)
Fix up the center console
Redo the pile of spaghetti (wires) under the center console. I hate wires, so this is really bugging me.
Re-clip the doors and tighten up the trim
Fix the Sunroof (not closing completely, already have new seals) and retreat the internal vinyl cover
Fix some of the internal lights
Get new front speakers (I managed to accidentally blow one of them out)
Fix the fuel gauge in the pod
Clean the ground points
I'm lucky enough that right now that most of what I want/need to do is cosmetic, and I'm sure that'll change over time, but I say - bring it on!
Congrats. As a recent new owner I can say you are in for a lot of fun. Find a twisty road and take the corners more aggressively than is normal for you. Get out on an Interstate for a long drive. Prepare to be amazed!
I took it out on a highway tonight where there was no chance of...interference?....because of the logistics of the road, and I got a flavor of what she can offer. And wow. Sure beats the the pants off of my '02 Camry.
Welcome! Congrats on your new ride.
Robotman is a good guy as you know. My understanding is the sale was contingent on him keeping his 928 friends.
BTW, way too tough out the shift rod thing. Have fun with it!
Congrats! I also had the 928 on my wall as a poster when I was a teenager...always thankful I am blessed to be someone who actually gets to own one of his dream cars...
They are great cars...and will last many many miles...
Congrats, You scored a great car!! but WE NEED MORE PIX!! I know how satisfied you must feel getting a 928 after hungering for one for so long. I must have seen 'Risky Business' half a dozen times when it came out, because I fell deeply in LUST with Rebecca DeMornay and the 928. I knew I had no shot at all of ending up with Rebecca, but if I kept my eyes open I might get a 928. Just like you, the flux-vortexes lined up and I now have an '83 EuroS 5-speed. "Hey Rebecca, want to go for a ride in MY 928? P.S. I'm taller that Tom Cruze, and I'm not nuts either."
Interior pics are coming once I put it back together...I did a bit of clean-up on the dash, console, glove box and still need to put together the last 10%. Definitely by the weekend or as time allows during conference calls
Great car and it sounds great I was at the meet last summer when they did some wrenching at Dave's in St Charles...It's a great group...Enjoy...cool car
By the way, I still feel the same after 10 years of ownership!
Glad to hear, and looking forward to a similar experience.
I'm finding that my wife is coming around on it, too. She wasn't all that excited about losing the spot in the garage, but I suspect she's going to be borrowing the keys from me soon.
