Default Changing PS crush washers

I have a very small seep coming out one the banjo fittings down on the steering rack.

Do you have to remove the sway bar to get the banjo bolts out to change the crush washers? Looks very tight if you don't.

The engine and steering rack was out of the car last time, so I don't have a frame of reference.

Thanks!

I think you can get them out by loosening the sway bar-to-body mounting bolts to let the bar move some.

I was able to remove them without removing the sway bar on my 1980. I could not get my torque wrench on the pressure line though, so I retorqued it by feel. No leaks😉

Yep, loosen both sides of the sway bar so it moves a bit, you can get a 19mm gear wrench in there to remove the bolts. Plan on a mess so have a pan and some paper towels ready to go.

Thanks. Going to turkey baster out as much as the PS fluid I can before I start turning wrenches.

When doesn't a job involving any sort of fluid on a 928 evolve into a mess?

lesson - always replace crush washers when doing a job with banjo bolts or otherwise (such as changing the oil and the washer on the drain plug), even if they don't look like they were crushed. They are soft copper or aluminum, and even a little deformation can cause an annoying leak.
