Default Project 928 "The Book"

Several times these have gone for over $300.00 dollars. I can understand the Workshop Manuals being worth their weight in gold, but what makes this book soooooo special?Project 928

The book explains and shows how the 928 came about. The book is no longer available, so it has become a relatively rare collectors item - especially the English language version.

Enjoy! Anybody know where we might be able to get a better glimpse of this book for under 3 bills?

I remember seeing this book at the Hershey swap meet. The seller was asking $150. Guess I should have bought it! Oh, well. I read the few pages from the book in the link provided by Porsche5050. I like the newspaper quote: "This Porsche 928 is no loger a car, it is a throne for the gods......." My sentiments exactly!

I had two copies. One I gave to Louis Ott and the other I have is still a brand new copy in the box.

I have copied the entire book to my hard drive.

You sell it to us for 50 bucks a copy. We sell it for 40. They sell it for 30. About 5 sellers later it ends up on some free downloadable link on Rennlist. Don't do it man. Keep it sacred! With that being said if you sell it to me I promise I won't pass it along....

I have the German version of it... oh well, at least I can look at the pictures. I just bought it off of eBay for $70. For some of the pages, I have scanned and OCR'd them, then I took the text file and ran it through a translation website. It's not quick and 100% accurate, but for my interest alone... it does the job.

The book does have some very interesting images though. I really am interested in the ones that show the air intake on the hood.

Marry well, my wife has bought for various gift giving occasions; Factory manuals, Project 928, die-cast 928s, and all sorts of Porsche branded paraphanalia.

Never had to explain why a book (or set) cost so much!

I agree with Jim. My much better half didn't blink an eye when I bought the shop manuals.

However, I nearly died when she came back from Sam's with 3 ton jackstands and a 3.5 ton hydraulic jack last weekend. She said it was "On Sale". Needless to say I hope she finds a lift on sale sometime.

I've been hoarding several copies in English and German. Usually picked up on eBay as soon as they appear with "Buy It Now" for a couple hundred dollars or less from buyers who don't know what they have. You can get one right now on Barnes and Noble used and out of print for only $420! If you are obsessed with the 928, you must have this book! Keep watching eBay.

awww.... no hoarding. Share with the world. Give back and you will receive in ten-fold. The 928 karma gods are making notes. j/k

I probably should joke since I'm hanging onto Euro cams and heads.
