Looked at a silver/black auto 1989 S4 with 39K

Also missing the front belly pan. (for some reason they left the rear pan attached)
I'm surprised no one mentioned the jump post cover...

Together with the missing belly pan, all the undercarriage pics are from the rear. I want to see from the front.
I agree, there are better cars out there for the money. If they get $25 for this, the wave is really rising on prices. It looks pretty good, I would want to know more about the mechanicals and see the front undercarriage.

If you look closely at pics some of the plastic cover is frayed on a hose near the drivers front wheel. The car was probably bottomed out or ran over a parking block damaging the front chin spoiler and belly pan. That would explain their absence. I'm glad this was pointed out. This is the first one I've really looked at a 928 closely, so big thanks for pointing out things I missed.

I'm always turned off by the shiny slime they wipe on the tires and interior. BTW, interior doesn't look too good either. the ultimate turnoff would be the air freshener the dealers spray in that smells like a urinal cake. No way is it worth 4X my much prettier petrol blue/tan 79 5sp.

They might come back to you later with a better offer, I don't think they will get 25K, so I'll offer a little more on the bottoming aspect. The thing to be most concerned about is the alternator and/or A/C compressor. ( Or some suspension parts bent.) And whether they took a hit when it bottomed. Of course a belly pan would COVER those items and prevent you seeing it. So in a way, they are helping you see. The worst situation would be a crack to the mounting brackets. Well, the worst would be missing parts, but you get my drift.

They claim around 25k. They were trying g to give it to me on cost to make money on my trade. I'm guessing low 20s. Again not a bad car but it has a few issues that keep it from being a 25k car. The ac did work though and it drove straight, so I'm guess just cosmetic damage from whatever took that spoiler and belly pan out.

No idea what that 928 sold for, but it was in an fluent suburb of Chicago, so I'm guessing someone with no idea and a lot of extra money overpaid. I've been out the game for a while and ended up buying a pristine 1970 Mustang Mach 1, which I know was out of left field, but it's just a cool car that's been on my vintage muscle car list for a while. I'll be looking to add a 928 to the stable soon and will let you know what I find. I'm starting to like the purity of the earlier models, so we'll see. Thanks for all the great advice!
