Central Warning Replacement
I am trying to replace my central warning interface that sits just above the radio.
I have a replacement unit thanks to 928 Intl but I can not see how to remove the center console trim that apparently hides the mounting screws.
Any hints would be appreciated.

Hi!!
I'm in the middle of an interior overhaul myself, and I removed the trim piece you are looking at just a couple of weeks ago...
I have a 1981, not a 1985. For me, the thin center console trim piece goes all the way down around the shifter and then back up the sides above the center AC vent.
I used a dull plastic putty knife and just carefully wedged it out, it was a pressure fit on my 1981, no fasteners to speak of.
My central warning box had 2 screws holding it in, and when I removed it, I could see where wires had been soldered on and broken away. The guys here walked me through the wiring and it tested fine with a 9V battery. The trim piece just pops back in, on my 1981..
Hope this helps?

It's tricky and you need to go slow not to break fragile part shaped like an "H".
I use a right angle pick, and a small flat blade. Some thin plastic to spread the load on the console sides as you need to "spread" the console and pry out the part.
the part sits in a slot and is held in place under the lip of the console.
They go on a lot easier

Dan, thanks but I have the thin center console trim out but it appears that there is another trim piece that starts just above the radio that is covering the mounting screw locations.
Dave, thanks the H part sounds like what I need to get out so I will do as you suggested with a pick and thin flat blade. I didn't want to start down that path if I was missing something else. Unfortunately these 30 year old plastic parts a getting pretty brittle.
