Brake Pad Warning Light
Finished up and emergency patient then head for home! Halfway there the brake pad warning light came on.
The front brake calipers were rebuilt, the rotors are new with new pads less than 5,000 miles ago.
The rear rotors and pads were good at that time....
Am I correct in thinking I've got to check the rear pads and sensors to see what the problem is?

If youve had the sensor installed correctly then thats exactly what you'll need to do.
Saying that, the sensors (and wiring to them) can be temperamental. All you need is an open circuit in either of the four corners, and the warning light will be on and stay on. and after some rennlist searches, this normally happens at the connection points right inside the engine bay where you cant get to them.
Mine has been on for a while, but I know the pads are ok because I changed them and the sensors myself. Somewhere in the process I've pulled a wire and created a break in the curcuit, or the sensors are not fitted correctly or both. Either way, I just dont have the incliniation to fix it with more 'important' stuff to get on with.
IF your pads are good, try disconnecting each sensor from the main harness and bridge each connector with some wire to see if the warning light goes off. Replace the sensor where this occurs, and if you try all four and the light is still on, the open circuit is somewhere else and good luck finding it.

No need to try to open and repack the rear bearings usually would do more harm than good...plus you can access the pads and sensor without removing even the caliper ! think quick change racing style. Very simple easy task.
