Default Pins in pressure plate of clutch

Hi guys,

I’m in the middle of replacing the TT bearings, and the First bearing (from the engine side) has walked / moved forward in the TT.
I read here that this could also be caused by the pilot bearing being worn out.

So since its now not so much work anymore to replace that one I removed the clutch so I can replace the pilot bearing.
But then I realized something strange? On the pressure plate of the clutch.

There a pins sticking out in to the fingers of the pressure plate. And it looks like they’ve worn in to the fingers. How is a bit a mystery to my because the parts can’t turn relative to each other.

But is there anybody who has seen this before? And maybe somebody knows how it’s caused? Anyway what is the use of these pins?

Thanks in advance
Best regards

looks like you need a new pressure plate assembly,
I would venture a guess that a few drop the clutch episodes preceded this wear from occurring

Yeah okay, that could be how its caused, but would you not say the metal “brace” or spring (circled in red) prevents the pressure plate form moving relative to the diaphragm spring?
The pins stick in to the pressure plate it self.

Anyway, I would need to replace this one. But what interests me more, what is the use of these Pins?

since the housing and the PP are tied into each other,
the diaphragm spring appears to be moving back and forth,
so maybe the spring has lost its spring and
or the link tabs are damaged
has the clutch ever been dropped while at high RPM?
