Default Is this clicking normal?

Hello everyone,

Please have a look at the video. I noticed clicking coming from around the intake manifold and was wondering if its normal.

Also, I'm still having idle issues (better than last time, but still ), hot and cold:

1) 1st start of the day (cold) idle to 1200, dips to 200-300, back up then down then finally settles and idles smoothly. engine does NOT die.

2) After a drive, under the sun (34+ degrees celsius). rpm will not idle (between 200 to 1000). Engine will die eventually (<200 rpm)

Since previous post (March 2014); new caps, rotors, cables and plugs. Car was MUCH better after the replacements.

Bit hard to tell, but it sounds like normal injector and other engine sounds to me.

Have you replaced or cleaned the ISV (Idle Stabiliser Valve) and gone over the motor for vacuum leaks?

What weight oil are you using?

What's the mileage?

Here's the YT vid .... only put everything after the = in the YT url if you're putting it between YT "bookends" for it to show like this in a post.

Description sounds like my '86.5 before rebuilt maf. I had to run it at 980 ohm to idle (poorly and tended to leave stranded for an hour or so). New one is 384 and starts, idles whether hot or cold. MAF was last bit to change. All vac lines, ijnectors, etc done first (had them for other car already)

Yes the ticking is normal. What you hear are the fuel injectors opening and closing. Place a mechanics stethoscope (long screwdriver or piece of garden hose) against an injector to locate the sound origin.

Btw is the coolant expansion tank on the left side (RHD)?

Thank you for your replies. I will be checking for vacuum leaks and ISV issues in the coming week. Then MAF after (unable to source maf here and no refurbishment place that I am aware of )

@Dave - Thanks for correcting the YT link. I am using Synthetic Liqui Moly 10w-40. Mileage is at 16K Miles

@Joe - I will probably do the same process (MAF at the very end) because of availability of parts on this side of the world

@Leon - Yes, Tank is on the left side.

I should also mention I used porkens 'blinkr' for MAF adjustment. This is only for '85/'86 cars.

Hello everyone,

Been abit busy so havent got around to doing the isv yet. Is there a proper procedure to remove it? Or a quick route to getting to the isv? I have the guide for intake removal but id rather go a more simpler route if possible.

10+ years of this car sitting in a shed would probably mean I have to replace all the rubber and gaskets if I start opening things up. Which I only plan on doing in the near future when time permits.

Symptoms are completely consistent with a Mass-air Sensor that is far out of specification. Injections labs rebuilds them (http://www.injectionlabs.com). Shipping might be an issue for you.
