Hi-
The carpet on both sides of my center console has pulled away from where it was glued underneath the leather trim.
What I was hoping to find out is if anyone knows of a way that I can reglue the carpeting to the sides of the console.
Thank you!
Carson

3M makes some super strong spray glue/bond stuff. I used it to lay the carptet in my 911 and the carpet on the door covers of the 911. Stuff won't budge! Comes in a spray can like spray paint, You can find the stuff in alot of places, got the first can at the fabric store wife goes to...person says mostly guys come in and buy it for interior car work! Got my second can at Menards!

Your carpet is probably glued to two molded pieces of particle board that are screwed into the side of the tunnel. They fit in groves of the center console. You should be able to remove the boards.....there are, if I remember correctly, two screws that hold them in place.....on forward and one aft.....the aft screw you have to get to by lowering the seat as far as it can go....then you will be able to see it and get to it. Once the screws are removed, gently lower the pieces downward and wiggle out of the car.
Once out you can glue the carpet back on the boards with just about anything......a very light coating of plain white glue would do it.

Jim, Silver, and Mike-
Thank you all for your replies.
Mike- I just looked at the console and your suggestion was right-on. Also, by chance, do you know how to get the floor carpeting back under the plastic door strip on the drivers side of my 1982 928?
Thank you again!

I usually just take a plastic putty knife and gently "massage" the carpet underneath the plastic. There should be a tacky glue under the carpet that holds it in place. Hope this helps......

Mike-
Thanks for the suggestion, it worked!
Now I have to get the alternator rebuilt, replace the heater valve, clean the window motor and fix the console carpet.
