Default Red 928

Last night around 7:15 pm, coming back home from dinner. We spotted an early red 928 sitting behind a city bus, at Cheyenne & Decatur, in North Las Vegas. Never seen this car before, was wondering if a member of this forum?

Here in CT I've only seen one on the road in the past 2 years. A nice grey one. Possibly early 80's. It's like a bigfoot sighting.

I used to see one every 6 months on the road where I lived because 2 other people owned some. One of them owns over 20 IIRC.

But yeah, I see very few on the road, often I only sometimes see one when I go from Ventura to San Francisco, first it was a red S and then it was a battered black S4. They don't pop up to often on the open road.

I've only seen one on the road, ever, and I only saw that one from the inside.

I only recall seeing one in the last year here. I'd like to see more - I promise to wave!

Come to TX. They're a dime a dozen here.

Here in South Florida I can't remember ever seeing them on the road. The only one in recent memory that I've seen anywhere (other than the one in my driveway) is parked at a house near a friend's place. Supposedly it's been there for a while, but I never noticed it until I got my own lol..

They are pretty unusual.

I drive all over the eastern half of the country and I hardly ever see one. Maybe a dozen or so overall in the 2 years that I've owned one (and would be very likely to notice).

At least 3 red C4 vettes in my immediate neighborhood. My 928 is the only one I've seen in awhile. Fun at a cruise night (what's that?) (It's got a V8?) ...that's the fun part because mine rumbles past menacingly and is a trifle on the loud side if I get on it.

I've seen one 928 in my life on the road here in Michigan. It was about 1990 and I was driving my 944 when a black 928 passed me, I recognized it and immediately caught up, since you rarely see any Porsches here, period, let alone a 928, anyhow, we were on the expressway and we mixed it up for a while, nothing crazy, just passing each other amongst traffic, at a little above highway speeds.

Weird part was, l said to my passenger..."doesn't that guy look like Tom Selleck?".

Granted, it was not that unusual to hear of sightings of him, since he had family up in the thumb (picture lower Michigan...and you get the meaning of "thumb"). He actually had a favorite stop at a party store in Lakeport, where he would be seen most often.

Now, I find out from frequenting these 928 boards/forums that he actually owned a 928 at one time. So, now I'm kind of wondering if it was him or not?

Anyhow, that's the only 928 I've ever seen.

Oh...and when the driver of the 928 got tired of toying with me...he was gone in the blink of an eye...lol

Brian.
