Awesome! Clarkson has long been a fan, now this reference by Jay. I still believe the day is coming when the 928 will finally get the recognition it truly deserves as one of automotive history's finest GTs.

Sort of left-handed compliment, if that. And "mention" is it. Magnus immediately goes to ". . . . they are coming out with the Cayman . . ." and the the subject is dropped. If you are interested int he GT2, then have at it.

It's already considered one of the greatest GT's in history, but as Jay said: "It's not a 911" and that will never change.

Some time ago I wondered what a Magnus "styled" 928 would look like. Now I know!

I am not a fan (of this GT2).

Now over to Singer...

I don't have experience with other GTs. I can only compare my 928 to a prior Northstar Cadillac sedan. Given a need to do a 3-day interstate cruise, I'd pick the 928 without hesitation. The 928's performance on the twisties is an added bonus. From what I've read, that is kind of what the designers were aiming for, and totally nailed.

I don't know... Perhaps I'm just getting nostalgic as I age, but I kind of liked the old days when these cars were still mostly undiscovered. It seemed like we were all getting in on a good thing, and it was like our own little private secret. All of us here know what great GT cars they are. I'm just not so sure we need anyone else's recognition or approval...

Mark, I bought mine in 9/14 after some heavy duty searching for an American muscle car. Based on that, 928s are still undiscovered and an incredible bargain. A truly incredible bargain!

Still a bargain. How many 30 year old cars in good shape aren't worth their original purchase prices? Haggerty now says my "excellent" 1979 is worth less than half what the original buyer paid.

i have, with one - i bought a Subaru SVX after i sold my first 928.

almost rear-ended someone after realizing, "hey, these aren't Porsche brakes!"
great highway cruiser, though - but obviously not as fun when the go pedal is pushed, but not shabby. got about the same amount of stares and "WTF is that?" looks.
no cupholders, either.

it did beat the 928 in one category - it was a BEAST in the snow.

i prefer the rounded booty of the 928.

Thanks for posting! Yeah that GT2 is not my style. Looks too pieced together.

Glad for the mention from Leno but he strikes me as a know it all when it comes to cars. Yes he's probably earned it, but still. Ok maybe it also a bit of jealousy on my part.

IMO that paint color scheme by Magnus Walker is crappola.
The car looks like it was in an accident and the owner is saving up to fix it right.
Bumper spoilers painted in an accent color like this are merely to make track use easier to repair.
(stone chip re spray after re spray)
And that Magnus sure likes the sound of his voice..yawn.

Cool that Mr Leno mentioned the 928. He's a true car guy.

He should do a episode on a stock 928. I seem to recall him mentioning the 928 in another video years ago. Like he owned one but got rid of it. If I remember correctly he mentioned it in a video he was doing on a orange Lamborghini Espada. Can't seem to find the video anymore.

I like Magnus' cars. Admittedly, that wasn't my favorite paint job. I personally find the guy to be inspirational. Go find the video of him talking about and driving one of his early 930 turbos...if, as he has indicated, he ends up getting a 928 and makes a video like that...chills. I hope he does it.
