Bits of foam in cooling water expansion vessel
When I was filling my expansion vessel, after a boil over due to fan failure, these bits of foam floated out of the vessel as I overfilled it. I don't think they are related to the overheating, as the edges are worn, as if they have been going around the system for a while.
They are made of foam, which is quite friable and I'm sure they are parts of the same object.
The outer surface is smooth and there are some remnants of a smooth inner surface as if it was tubular. The top looks like something should be located in there, as there is a recess.
Any ideas as to what it is and what it could mean?
