The brake pad wire on my 87 S4 had the ground wire in the passenger wheel well pulled from the barrel connector the sensors slide into. I ordered a used one and ran it as the old one was. When I pulled the sensors from the connector in the engine compartment, the plastic ends on both sensors (the ones that are in the engine compartment) fell apart.
Is there a way to replace these sensor wires? Where do they originate? Is it possible to splice the ends onto the existing wires if they are hard to get to?
OE plugs aren't available new separate from the engine compartment wiring harness. Some have changed them over to WeatherPak connectors or equivalent. Others have sourced used wiring harness with good plugs and spliced them over. This summer I plan to encase my brittle OE plugs in urethane bumper repair epoxy to try and prolong their life.
