Default Chime when car is in Reverse

I had my dash removed to be reupholstered. When it was reconnected there are two issues. The first is that when the car is in R, the light on the dash flashes in time with a chime similar to the seatbelt warning chime. It does this in every gear accept D and P. The car is a 1985 928S with automatic transmission. The other issue is that there are no interior lights. The lights on the doors worked fine until the dash was removed and reconnected. What would cause this ?

Thanks.

I would concentrate on getting the Interior light working first as the door chime uses the same door pin switches.

I'm taking that "dash removal" included the center console(a requirement) but what else was disconnected, were the door panels removed too?
Did you do all the work?

I would disconnect the battery,
then remove the side console covers and investigate the wire connections,

from your info the wrong wires have been connected to the door chime ,
this part should be under the left side of the center console,

also inspect the pod a for the dimmer wires and where they are connected,
use the WSM to find the correct colors are going to the right places.
Inspect the CE panel to find out if any of the plugs along the bottom have been moved.
Check the fuses for the lights.l
Do all of this with the battery disconnected

you have a hot to ground in the door/hatch light circuit. did they cut/splice any wires? A ground wire may have been left undone under the dash.

If they accidentally put the chime in the wrong relay socket this can happen
