Fried Controller?
'84 Euro S: A very bad thing has happened so close to being done. I washed off the windshield with a garden hose so as to see out before driving the reanimate for gas which was running low. (Afraid we were going to run out) Cowl was off and I don't know if that aggravated it, but while driving down the street, water began pouring onto the fuse block. Psssssssst: light smoke and smell and the car died. Freaking out at this point. Dried and cleaned up the water we could get to, crossed my fingers and turned the key. Started right up and drove it home. That's the last time it started. Can't get power out of the controller. Part number 928 613 123 00. Anybody got an extra? Thanks, John Curry
My suggestion is to get some good contact cleaner from an electronics supply house or off the web (not Radio Shack) and completely clean the central power panel connections, including those on the back side. Check all of the fuse and relay connections very carefully.

Take a look at Bill's page on a wet ankle. I realize it the wrong side but I'm sure the seam is common to both sides!

the area at the base of the windshield is a "wet well " water is supposed to run into that cavity BUT drain harmlessly out through a rubber flapper drain located on the firewall in front of the blower motor right side of the engine . It is a rubber flap about 4 inches by 1 1/2 inches BUT when leaves and debris accumulate next to the blower motor it forms a dam . As soon as the water level gets high enough it drains into the cabin through the opening for the heater duct and drops directly onto the fuse relay board . Everyone should clean out that area near the drain and in front of the heater blower and be sure the thin black plastic "cover' is in palce to direct water away from the heater ducting and bimetal fan speed relay . It covers a bit over one half the area between the windshield and firewall behind the engine both ends are open where the hood hinges mount . Water on the fuse relay board is a BAD THING ........
