Passenger door will not unlock
My passenger door locking mechanism parished thus causing an electrical drain.
I unplugged it thinking that the door would remain unlocked. Replaced the door card, closed the door and now it's locked tight. Good news is that the window works and my electrical drain has been solved.
However when fussing with with it I broke off the 10mm stud that holds the the ****. ( the lock was frozen).

with the door panel off, stick your finger up behind the locking mechanism,
and see if a rod with a spring on it has come out of its position thus forcing the lock to move to a locked condition,
a simple push should put the rod back into its bore then the lock will be able to stay where its positioned.
The 82 was doing this and with a broken window motor you could lock yourself into the car as the **** is broken off inside and the only way to move the lock was with the key in the lock cylinder.
I was messing around with the lock and my finger went behind the lock motor and I felt the spring and with a lil push the lock suddenly unlocked.
I still have to replace the locking **** shaft

Thanks Stan
However the door is closed and the door card is in place. I can't imagine getting how to get the door apart
to get behind the motor. Can a "slim jim" pop it open so at least I can get the door open then take the panel off?

use the key and turn the lock this should force the mechanism to unlock,
while your holding the key unlocked pull the door handle

OK then take the door handle surround off ,
then remove the center section of the door panel off .
cut the vapor barrier and put a screw driver into the locking mechanism and pry the lock rod off,
then try to open the door
