Meanwhile,.... . during another drive my 928
..I dedicate this thread to all of us that drive their 928's year 'round, mainly just to tease everyone that has their 928 "put up" for the winter.
As this may seem to be a self affirmation post, I take pride in the achievements made to have a reliable DD.
I, with less than three years of ownership of my 928, want to thank the Rennlist 928 community.
This thread is open to everyone for their own DD story of the day.

...Another day in the Hood.
Today, while at the gas station, I was bombarded with questions about my 928 from two old guys. The first guy asked if it was a 928,and then what year.
The other old man says "is that a 911", then he askes how fast is it. I told him 0 to 60 in about 6 seconds, and top speed of 154. The old man replies, "I thought it would be faster than that".
I'm thinking to myself, WTF, his chubby van has never seen 70, and then I thought to myself, at least he thinks my car looks fast.

Same here, I pride myself in making a $1000 near parts car into a daily driver in 4 months and have been driving it since. I literally bought the car by selling cookies
It was my first car that I bought at the tender age of 15 and it has been serving DD status for nearly 3 years now after I saved it from craigslist.
If I didn't have rennlist and a factory 928 mechanic I know I doubt I would have done some of the things I have done on the car myself. Including the A/C for the hot SoCal summers in a black on black 928.
That is most of the whole cars story, today I got asked by a young lady at the pizzaria what car it was. I told her and she thought it was cool because she had never seen one before.
But usually I get asked what engine it has as most think it is a 350, when I tell them it is stock, they usually raise their eyebrows as they have never heard of a V8 Porsche before.

With the exception of the myriad of young people driving the latest "wannabe" clones who stop me to admire the car, my greatest satisfaction is derived when someone driving a baby Porsche who stops me and wants to discuss or reminisce about the 928.
Ours is a very elite group and most of the "junker" 928's are gone and people are seeing more and more 928's that have been restored to their former glory. The car collecting world is starting to take notice and realize that the 928 is a timeless, important part of automotive history that is just as relevant today as it was 36 years ago when it became the only exotic sports car ever to win European Car of the Year.
" The few, the proud, the 928 owners.

We're heading for Palm Springs this morning in the GT (100K miles since 2008), might be tempting fate but we put the summer tires back on for the trip.
I'm feeling bad for the other coast, I am sure we will get our turn but in the meantime we're enjoying it!

I have started using my car as a DD now that my 16 YO has his DL!
I was at a left turn light for my local chain grocery store behind an infuriating lady who could not make a decision to go when she had many opportunities. I noticed a motorcyclist behind me equally frustrated with the lady in front of me.
Light turned red and once we had a dedicated green she finally went making a U turn, argh!
I went as did the bike and I pulled into the gas station to fill up. The bike pulled along side and when I got out complimented me on the Cool Car. We chatted while I was filling up and as he just sat on his bike next to my car. He did not need gas, just wanted to talk about the 928.
People may not always know the 928 but with so few on the road they do draw attention! Even works in progress like mine.

My S4 isn't a daily driver but it get's driven all year round. During the winter I keep the trickle charger connected to the battery waiting for opportunity to knock -- this means temps above 40, and roads rain-washed to remove salt. Last week was great. Drove it west over the Blue Ridge into the Shenandoah Valley and topped it up with top-shelf Premium fuel for $2.25/gal. No chance this week, with the road crews applying the stripes of brine ahead of threatening forecasts. And with what's in store for tomorrow and cold temps to follow, it may be awhile before the roads are salt free.

While mines not a DD as I'm semi-retired, I do drive it a lot. I also get asked what it is. As stated above, many people do not believe it's a V-8, that is until I start it. The Borla exhaust has a really nice sound. I believe I have the only 928 in St George, Utah.
