Need a place for a pre-purchase insp...
I'm going in NYC to have a look at a 1986.5 928. If everything look nice I like to have make a pre-purchase inspection. The problem is I don't know where to go apart a Porsche dealer. Could you help me finding a good place not too far from NYC.
Do anyone know how much cost a pre-purchase inspection ?

Don't know where in NYC you'll check the car (from Staten Island or Brooklyn, it's a good ride to the Westchester Co.) but I've been to PAR Porsche and it's a very nice place. You just don't see any 928s there though ... All 911 and Boxster.

They have a 90GT Dark Blue/Linen in stock (which they could not sell on ebay twice) you might wanna check as well. The ad says "mint" .. but ..(I got some pics if you are interested).
Have a safe trip and don't forget have a big A$$ Carnegie Deli Pastrami !!!

Just had a pre-purched inspection done on a 93 GTS in Long Island NY. The shop is Formula Motor sports (718)482-0515 and the mech. is Mark. He is a Porsche mech. and has been for a long time. I called three P-dealers and all three had heard of him and said he was a good choice. It cost me $400 and was quoted $300 the extra $100 was that he had to go to the dealer were the car was.

I went to Rennwerke in Elmsford, that's north of the city in Westchester county, convenient to the Saw Mill Parkway. http://users.rcn.com/edwardh.nai/cheech.htm
Check out the site if that is near the car. They did a PPI for $150, not as thorough as PAR, but maybe you can specify more detail. A very clean shop, several 928s there. HTH.
