What's a nice 928 GT worth?

I think someone got a very good deal at $24K. The dash and pod notwithstanding, the rest of the interior cosmetics are every bit as good as my '90GT was at $22K, and the paint is better than mine was. And it has 30,000 fewer miles than mine did. The cosmetics are the hardest part......
I'm hoping the new owner is local, would be cool to have another victim for Socal get-togethers.

Looks great Mark,
I would have liked to see it go for more.
Too be honest I HATE my linen interior. It shows everything, definitely not a color for a driver. That said neither is black for an exterior. At least the exterior isn't cleared and can be polished.

But, your '90 was, IIRC, totally up-to-date on maintenance. Was this one? Or was your '90 a better deal at $22k because this one needs the '20 year maintenance routine?'

Well, I can't help but think that a little bit of talking with people in the community and some more and better pictures via email would not have brought slightly more for the car. Maybe not a lot, but USD 27'000 seemed about right. Some people (like me) might also be just scared off a little by eBay.
Worf's remark about maintenance of Rob's GT vs. this car probably needing a good part of the typical 20 year maintenance was not priced into Rob's GT properly in my opinion. (Especially not given the quality of Rob's maintenance!!!) Again here it shows that PATIENCE and finding the right buyer is key to a sale in my opinion.
Just my 2 cents after trying to buy a second, more driver-like GT over the last 4 years! Many have been in this market lots longer than me...

Well, this one had a TB/WP 15K miles ago, so it's good to go on that front, like mine was. Cosmetically, at least, this one needs an intake refresh, though it idles steadily at ~800 rpm, warm or cold, while mine had the intake off 3 times in 7000 miles and it still idles high when warm...
Mine had 117K miles on it, Mark's has 87K miles.
Mark's car's A/C is ice cold, mine was ice cold. Mark's has D90s, mine had D90's. I never touched the trans other than to change the gear oil and flush the PSD. Mark's shifts fine but I have no idea when it or the PSD had been serviced.
Mine had a bone stock CD-2 in it. Mark's has a killer Diamond audio amp with a big 1 farad cap and a subwoofer in the spare tire compartment. Mine was original but sucked and the CD player was broken, Marks' is modded but is actually audible.
The biggie against Mark's GT to me would be the dash and pod cracks, that would really bug me. But I have to assume it did not bother the high bidder.
So ballpark, my car and Mark's car would be within ~$2K of each other in either direction, depending on whether mileage, the interior color scheme, or the intake refresh (done thrice by a hack DIYer) is more important to the buyer.
The other way to look at it was that I underpriced my GT and sold it too quickly, which in retrospect is what happened- I agree with Red Flash. Shoulda coulda woulda, oh well. Its new owner is an old e-friend from a different online car site and he's enjoying it thoroughly, so it's all good.

It's all "what - ifs" now and pointless but
I am wondering why Mark didn't find a decent pod and dash and install them before he sold the car.
We all know how much this would affect price
(well beyond what it would cost Mark to replace them)
This is what he does after all. Puzzling to me, i must be missing something.

Dismantling mostly California cars is great for corrosion-free parts, but maybe not so great for non-sun-damaged interior bits. Airbag pods and dashes, let alone crack-free ones, are relatively rare beasts.

Mark has always been a class act, very reserved and typically understates. I wonder if in this case it didn't work to his disadvantage. I was surprised the ad wasn't written in a way to more forcefully market the car. More pics, more written description and acknowledging who the owner was.

The eBay ad needed more sex appeal.
Should have been at least two photos of Mark sprawled across the hood in a neon green speedo.
If anything it would have gotten Andrew to bid.

What would a non cracked dash and pod add in value? Would a leather recoved dash add or subtract value? Just wondering
The best solution for the new owner would be to have the original dash and pod recovered, but that's a roughly $1500 proposition for the two pieces from Rob Budd.
If Jim Bailey's mantra is relay, relay, relay, my mantra is cosmetics, cosmetics, cosmetics.......

One reason would be I didnt have a dash or pod that was crack free to install. The car had over 3000 views on eBay, 130 watchers, I had many phone calls and a few actually came to inspect before hand. It would have been nice if it fetched more but I'm pleased at $24k.

The pod in my 89 GT is blemish free, the interior is prolly a 95 out of 100. It even has the Porsche "new" smell, which I find amazing for a car this old.
What I don't comprehend is how you fellows can possibly part with one of these cars for almost ANY price (feeling $25k is just NOT a motivator to sell my shark). I am not really sure what price I would agree to part with "Gretch" for......... I really don't even want to think about it.
I have space to keep mine garaged 365x24 (Car has never been stored outside and rarely even parked in the sun. It has also not been driven between late November and late April, for its whole life).
I guess I understand there is a "market value" for these cars....... However, the ONLY car I lusted after for a LOOOOOOOOOONG time, when I was a young professional, was a black on black, 89 GT. I found Gretch in 1992.......... And I have no intention of parting ways with her.
She is looking straight at you, in the 2006 picture below.

Totally understand the sentiment, Gretch, I swore that I wouldn't sell my '90GT, and it wasn't at all about the money, it was about the space- I've only got 2 garage spaces and a chance to have a track car sang too loudly in my other ear. I do miss the '90, as hotrodded and more powerful as my GTS is vs. a stock GT, there is no substitute (pardon the pun...) for the overall experience of driving a 928GT as the factory intended.
As far as Anderson goes, he's owned, what, 1000 928s? After a while, it's gotta become like being a **** star- just another day in the office.
