Passenger floor mounting lowers the center of gravity (if you're Anderson stuff like that matters. Me, notsomuch...) and provides all of the other theoretical benefits listed here:

it was more to place the weight behind the front axle.
At one point I considered moving the radiator to the rear and driving the alternator off the transaxle

I guess I can't have an original thought
Very few things are a totally new concept anymore. More about applying the past to the present

Did you notice any difference in turn-in or handling with all the tricks to move weight centrally?

I am the last person to ask about minor changes in car set up. My lap times at willow rarely changed from 1:24 with different tires, 2:20 vs 2:75 r&up, 500 vs 575 hp

Thats hardcore!

I may have a problem with the racing series regulation on fluids in the car.

Any experiance of a new setup on the steering rack with another ratio with less end to end laps?

Maybe the alternator would have put you into the :23's?

I never looked into changing the ratio. I considered getting rid of the power assist but decided against that

I did a few 1:23's but it had more to due with weather and " large attachments" as David Hobbs puts it

What made you decide against that?

I dont know if changing the ratio is just to get the feeling of a quick steering respons or if it really helps with the driving......

Australia has similar regulations, which require the driver compartment to be isolated from fluids and fumes, and I'm surprised that US regs allow it. I wouldn't drive a race car without an isolated driver compartment.

On the subject of fumes, it's not unheard of for drivers to experience cumulative effects from carbon monoxide poisoning. Very nasty, and preventable with proper sealing of the cabin, and good fresh air supply.

I've had a conversation with a racer down here who, at that time late last year, was undergoing his second session of weeks of hyperbaric chamber treatment, to resolve the consequent serious health issues from CO exposure ... http://www.westernadvocate.com.au/st...-driver-crick/

Dave, safety is my first priority. Nasty story with the fumes.

Does anyone have a good way of getting rid of the glue on the firewall?

Chemical or mechanical?
