Stereo failure
I though it was something simple so I reset the Kenwood head unit. That didn't help at all.
Then I made sure everything was getting power, amp and head unit had proper power lights on.
Then I pulled player out if the center console and checked the connections, checked continuity on the RCA cables. All good.
Then I looked for some unknown MUTE mode, no such luck this model.
Right before I was about to give up, I decided to check the voltage and ground from the 4 gauge battery wires to the amp. I had only about 5 volts. No near enough to power the speakers.
Come to find out that the power cables on the back of the amp had come loose due to the Kicker 10 inch subwoofer mounted next to the 1200 watt amp vibrating the screws loose.
The power cable from the headunit actually turns the amp on, but does not supply the power the run the speakers. So I did have an amp power light, just no power for the speaker
After 90 minutes of trouble shooting and some blue locktite, the speakers work once more.
I guess this is another example of checking the simpliest thing first.
. I only have 700 watts rms and it gets hard to breath with it pushing on your chest.I imagine you can hear it coming down the street a mile away with that kind of power
. Good thing it was a simple fix like a loose wire. It could have been much worse, especially if the wire actually came in contact with the car.
